Xbox 360 Burger King Titles Are A Surprise Hit

Posted in Everything Xbox 360 on December 28th, 2006

by Joel BarishHere he comes, here comes Speed Racer…
When BK first announced that they were creating xbox 360 titles on the cheap that would be overflowing with product placement, there was a lot of scorn in the gaming world. After all, how could a game for four bucks possibly be decent, and why would a person want to pay for the privilege of having to look at a giant ad?
It turns out that in less than a month, over 2 million have been sold. I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot more of this…call it a hunch. Details from the release follow.
Released on Nov. 19, more than 2 million BK(R) xbox games have been sold in just four weeks, joining the ranks of other top-selling Xbox 360 titles such as “Call of Duty 3″ and “Saint’s Row,” making it the best-selling collection of games published for the Xbox/Xbox 360 platforms this holiday season.
All three xbox games in the collection — “Pocketbike Racer,” “Big Bumpin’,” “Sneak King” — are available at participating BURGER KING(R) restaurants, for a limited time only while supplies last, for a recommended price of $3.99 per game with the purchase of a BK(R) Value Meal.

Xbox 360 Halo 3 New Video Footage

Posted in Everything Xbox 360 on December 28th, 2006

by Nathan Bronfman
Whenever new xbox 360 Halo 3 footage pops up we drop whatever it is we’re doing and watch it on a loop for much, much longer than what would be considered acceptable. At least new clips show up so rarely that it doesn’t completely consume our lives.
From Mr. Nelson:
In the second Bungie “Vidoc” we take a long hard look at the ferocious new antagonist for Master Chief, the Brute. Now that a tentative alliance has formed between Humans and Elites, the fighting focus of Halo 3 switches to the monstrous Brutes. These tenacious foes have improved graphically with the advent of the Halo 3 engine and the power of the xbox 360, but more importantly, their tactics, weapons, vehicles and AI have all followed suit, making the Brutes the worthiest opponents the Chief has ever faced.
See how the designers, artists and programmers set about the herculean task of replacing a fan favorite – the mighty Elite – with an unforgettably ferocious adversary. See how Brutes behave in packs and as individuals with brilliant new animation and AI. Take a first look at the new Brute graphics, weapon and armor designs and finally, get the first ever public glimpse at Halo’s legendary Campaign.

Posted in Everything Xbox 360 on December 28th, 2006

by Nathan BronfmanHere he comes, here comes Speed Racer…
xbox 360 owners can get their taste of New Rally X, the latest game to hit Live Arcade. This is a title that has not particularly stood the test of time well.
The description from Microsoft:
Collect all the flags while avoiding enemy cars! With new features such as the Lucky Flag, which awards you points depending on your remaining fuel. Collect the Special Flag to double the points of all remaining flags! NEW RALLY-X, the sequel to RALLY-X, was released in 1981. It featured new courses and adjustments to the enemy cars, improving the overall game balance, as well as new graphics and BGM!
Translation: It’s like of like Pac-Man, except with cars. The download will set you back 400 points.
