Rumor: Xbox 360 Price Drop By Christmas

We’ve become such a jaded bunch here at xbox Today that we waited a few days before writing about this “breaking” news. According to BritXbox, the Xbox 360 is going to get a massive price drop of $100 USD before Christmas. The source of the article is the everpresent “source close to Microsoft”, so this is another one of those “we report, you decide” kinds of rumors.
According to the source: “A new version of the xbox 360 would be cheaper to manufacture and debut about a year after launch. If they hit their targets, the Microsoft would be able to cut the costs of its console in the autumn of 2006. Microsoft would have the option of slashing the price of its console, just as rivals come out with their first consoles. That would put a lot of pressure on Sony and Nintendo.”
